The rings that washed off...But never came off.

My First Blog Post Ever.

We were on the Train coming home from New York (My Christmas Gift...Awesome trip). I had been waiting to propose for 2 months. I couldn't stand it anymore. After some great conversation, which made me fall in love with her even more, we started doodling. Which of course then led to us drawing rings on each other. I was so looking forward to getting home and having a little box waiting. No Little Box... (Whole other story). I knew at this point I couldn't wait any longer.

After coming home 2 hours before Baltimore got its 3rd snow fall of 20" that winter. Stef and I cleaned up and hung with the cats. I noticed that after our showers our rings had washed away. The only thing I could get my hands on that night was two ring-pops. So I kept a ring on her for a few more hours (FACT: My ring tasted better). The next day Stef was my Fiance.

Bloom Where You are Planted!

This past weekend Owen and I shared our first real weekend together. It was jammed packed with tons of fun stuff (including that Zac Brown Band concert we'd been dying to go to). We finished it off with a nice relaxing day by the pool, working on our adopted planter.

The way it works is, anyone who wanted to adopt a planter and maintain it for the summer is given one first come first serve. The only rule is that there needs to be a hibiscus in the center. There is a contest held in July, for who has the best planter- and the winner gets a pool party!

Owen and I are hoping that we can win, first off, and second, put the party option towards our wedding  venue!

Plan of attack: Stand out & Be different by using great smelling herbs & using a lot of textures

Missing Those Farm Days

Sooo, I came across this post on oncewed and instantly fell in love, once again. You may have seen a similar posting on Pat & Kay a month or so back. It is adorable, this girl on a farm with the new love of my life (sorry Owen), Mr. Baby Goat. I am missing Farm life a little, just because I want a goat- maybe married life will bring it to me??? Do you think I can register for a goat?...well, that and a couch. We definitely need a new couch.

I love that idea for a center piece.

Feeling One with Nature

This is how my mind works:

I had to go in to the Police Station today to get fingerprinted for my job. I'm looking at my fingerprint card, thinking just how strange fingerprints really are. I mean, to some, the police world (more specifically), they signify identity. No one else has my  fingerprints. They are uniquely me.

The closer I look, the more and more they resemble a cross section of a tree. Now, without going total nerd, and without drawing any outrageous relationships to turn this posting into a 40 page thesis, let's just consider the most fundamental connection here--The relationship living beings have to trees & all the great goodies they give us to keep us healthy. Just on that relationship alone, I feel even more connected to nature, when I see the same trade marks hidden on our bodies.

Moral of the story: Don't kill trees, because they are part of us.

This inevitably led me to the beautiful tangent of creative guest book ideas.

Found Love in a Laundromat

I pulled this straight from Green Wedding Shoes and think it is such a cute idea for an engagement shoot. Very natural and playful! Isn't it great that our cheapest entertainment often turns out to be the best entertainment!

"All you need is love"

Bought our Preakness tickets last week, and getting excited this year to see some horse racing! Zac Brown Band, OAR and some other band will be performing. O and I have really been getting into Zac Brown lately. Here is a song that just puts me in that peacefully happy mood:

"So we live in our old van
Travel all across this land
Me and you

We'll end up hand in hand
Somewhere down on the sand
Me and you

Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be

Drive until the city lights
Dissolve into a country sky
Just me and you

Lay underneath the georgia moon
Do all the things that lovers do
Just me and you

Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
Ever be

No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
All we need is love

Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
Ever be

So we live in our old van
Travel all across this land
Me and you..."

MJM Nightmare

About 4 1/2 months ago, a ring was ordered. Not just any ring, the ring Owen wanted to propose to me with. Today, I look down at my my ring-less hands utterly perplexed to how this whole experience could have gone so wrong.

I'll spare you all the gruesomely boring details, and just stick to the key points of where MJM screwed my wonderful fiance over!

Part 1: Ordering the Ring

*Owen places the order at MJM in January.
*Owen & Stef go to NYC for the weekend, come back to no ring. A week goes by, the ring was supposedly shipped, but was sent back to Ca when it "arrived" in MD.
----No calls were made, and Owen was home all day & no delivery trucks ever came by.

*Owen calls to complain & MJM reimburses his money, gives him a money credit on their site & promises to re-ship the ring.

Part 2: Something Fishy is Going On

*2 weeks go by, no ring.
*Owen calls to complain, he speaks with someone new. Someone who makes him new promises. Says it will take another 2 weeks for Owen to get the ring.
*2 weeks go by, no ring.
-----At this point there is a lot of conversation between MJM & Owen. MJM says that production is taking longer than expected. Owen is fed up, but wants to get this ring after the energy put into the whole process.

Part 3: Deception

*It March/April and Owen calls infuriated from being strung along after all this time.
*A woman at MJM proceeds to tell Owen that they had to let some people go, her assistants, because they had been misleading customers, aka F-ing with them & feeding them fraudulent information.
*The woman promises Owen they will make things right, and asks Owen to give them another shot.
*A new ring is promised to be made.
*2 weeks go by, no ring.

Part 4: Last Straw

*April: Owen calls everyday, checking on the status of the ring.
*When the ring is supposedly completed, Owen is given a working tracking number. The package has been picked up, in transit for delivery.
----we are sooo excited! FINALLY, we get our ring...so we thought.
*Tracking said package had been delivered. Yet, no package to be found. NOTHING and NO ONE had come by the house.
*Owen calls MJM confused with what has happened. MJM tells Owen and man by the name of Steven Thomas, signed for the package @ our desired location.
*No one by the name of Steven Thomas lives or works @ that address.
-------SOMEONE is F-ing with us.

Part 5: "Hold Me Back O"

*I call MJM to give a piece of my mind.
*Sharron, the woman Owen had been working with, says that the last she spoke with Owen was 3 weeks ago. No package was EVER attempted to be shipped to us. No ring was EVER created for us.
------ Here a big old F you to MJM!!!
____________________________________________________________________

Shame on us for falling for their lies every time. We were blinded by the beautiful rings, and were getting stomped on in the process. They truly spoiled a beautiful event.

Owen and I never wanted to make a big deal of the ring, its a shame it came to this. BUT what is fun now, is that we can go look together!!

Lesson Officially Learned!
